IF THE RULES DON’T SAY YOU CAN DO IT….DON’T! The rules are intended to ensure that sanctioned events are conducted in a manner that is fair as possible for all competitors and consistent with the prompt finality in competition results. On occasion, circumstances will be presented that are either unforeseen or are otherwise extraordinary, in which strict application of the rules may not achieve this goal. In such rare circumstances, officials, as a practical matter, may make a determination regarding the conduct of the race, the eligibility of a competitor, or similar matters that is not contemplated by or is inconsistent with the rules, in order to achieve this goal. ALL CARS ARE SUBJECT TO OFFICIALS APPROVAL
COMMUNICATIONS All competitors must have a RACEceiver 1600 in car radio to compete.
BODY Gutting of the car ok. OEM steel hoods only with hole for air cleaner but must have box built around it. Any year or model, rear wheel drive, American production car. Full frame cars. If a uni-body frame, it must be connected. No front wheel drive cars. May run any GM Body on GM Chassis, Ford on Ford and Chrysler on Chrysler. Tube front and rear bumpers allowed but must have stock-appearing nose. All cars must have front and rear hooks for lifting and towing. FRAME Frame must remain stock. Wheel base of 106” from axle to axle minimum. Must be stock in all aspects. No cutting or altering of the frame. No weight jacks or transfer devices of any kind will be permitted. Radiator brace allowed out to bumper only. Front hoop allowed in place of core support. Hoop can be from one side of the frame to the other and can be fastened to roll-cage to support radiator. BRAKES Must have stock four wheel brakes with OEM stock brake pads. Steel brake pads or other material will not be permitted. Must have OEM master cylinder and pedal assembly. May run after-market pedals with no adjustor on pedal within reach of the driver! No shut-off valves. ROLL BARS Four point roll bar cage required. One bar can be run from front of A-frame to roll cage. No crossover bar. All welds must be gusseted. Minimum of four bars in the driver’s door. Roll cage must be cross-braced. Cage must be a minimum of 1 ½” pipe with minimum wall thickness of .095 and cannot be thicker than .125. Roll cage brace allowed down to center of rear end. Radiator brace allowed, not extending past A-frames. Rear fuel cell loop allowed no wider than frame rails. Cannot connect to roll cage or extend forward. SEAT AND BELTS Top of seat must be in front of doorpost. All cars must be equipped with race-type seat, shoulder harness and seat belts that are safety approved. Must be bolted to frame or roll bar. GAS TANK All cars must have gas tanks securely fastened to the frame in the trunk. Fuel cell ok - must be mounted inside the trunk. All cars must have fire extinguisher. Fuel cell not to extend through trunk floor. Any size fuel cell allowed.16 gal recommended. Racing fuel only. No additives. Fuel cell box cannot be made of any heavier gauge metal than .050. May remove sheet metal from in front of rear-end to back of car (trunk pan). But must have sheet metal between fuel cell and driver. TIRES American racer kk704 tires or 8” asphalt take-offs. No DOT tires allowed. Sipping or grooving tires allowed. Must run same tires on all four wheels. One bead lock allowed on the right side of car. *Wheels - right front wheel must be re-enforced or steel spoke wheel may be used. 8” max width steel. Offset wheels ok as long as 8”. WEIGHT 3000 pounds minimum. Rear percentage ~ 48% Maximum. REAR ENDS AND DRIVELINES Rear ends may be locked. All cars can run a nine inch (9”) Ford but must run stock suspension only. Rear end pinion angle must be same as stock rear end. Trailing arms must be stock. No lengthening or shortening. Must run rubber OEM bushings only - no offset. Must have bushings. Mounts must be in stock location on rear end. Can run a floater rear end. TRANSMISSION Must have all gears working that it comes out with. All cars must have stock OEM transmission. All cars with automatic transmission must have all working gears. No reverse flow valve bodies. No modifications whatsoever. A stock torque converter mandatory ~ 11 inch minimum. A scatter shield is recommended. No direct drive or spuds allowed. No mini-clutch. Must have working torque converter SUSPENSION Bolt on spindle savers allowed. No modifying of suspension allowed. This means NONE! No traction devices or torque arms of any kind. Must use springs in stock location. No modifications. Non-adjustable racing shocks allowed. Shocks must be in stock location. If car comes out with rack and pinion, it has to be OEM factory. Aftermarket power steering allowed. Disconnect on steering wheel allowed. Altering of steering column allowed. Quick steers allowed. BATTERY Battery may be moved inside of car, in a protected position and securely fastened. One battery per car and must be a passenger car battery. No exceptions! RADIATOR Radiator and transmission cooler must be mounted under the hood. Aluminum racing radiator allowed. IGNITION No aftermarket distributors. Must remain stock. FIRE SUITS Suits of a flame retardant nature must be worn by all competitors.Racing Gloves Mandatory. Snell approved helmets only. HEADERS Headers will be allowed - 3” maximum collector and pipe past driver. No crossovers. INTAKES OEM factory cast iron intake and marine intake allowed. Aluminum intakes 2101, 2116 and equal for Dodge and Ford allowed. Porting and polishing allowed. ENGINE Stock steel block only. Must have stock factory casting number. Rollover rocker arms allowed. Stud girdles allowed. Engine must be in stock location. Second sparkplug must be even or in front of ball joint. It cannot be behind ball joint. Headers will be allowed - 3” maximum collector and pipe past driver. No crossovers. HEADS Any OEM heads allowed. Porting and polishing allowed. CARBURETOR Any 2 barrel or 4 barrel carburetor allowed. No double pumpers. Must be vacuum secondary. *No mirrors or reflecting devices of any kind. All glass, chrome and trim moldings, etc. that may be jarred loose or ripped off must be removed from car. Front windshield to be replaced by gravel screen. Gutting of inner front fenders will be allowed. Must have stock floor pan and stock firewall. All doors must be bolted or welded shut. Rear stock firewall is required between driver compartment and the gas tank. Trunk must be secured down. No Spoilers.
