STOCK RULES

COMMUNICATIONS:
All
compeitors must have a RACEceiver 1600 in car radio to compete at the
Raceway for the 2008 season. They can be purchased through the
Raceway by clicking here or rented for $10 per night with your own economy
ear buds.
BODY:
Any
American manufactured, steel body, production passenger car. Must be front
engine, rear wheel drive only. All glass, chrome, plastic and interior
parts must be removed. MUST have stock front firewall and interior
compartment floor pans. Front fender wells and trunk floor may be removed.
All doors must be bolted or welded shut. Aftermarket nosepieces allowed.
Body, frame and motor must match (i.e. Chevy motor in Ford body, etc.)
Rear spoiler, 6" maximum height and running width of rear deck
allowed. Bodies must be neatly painted. Numbers MUST be at least 18"
high and 3" wide on roof and sides.
FRAME: Must be stock frame end to end, minimum wheelbase of 103"
both sides. Frame may be cross-braced under floor pan. Drive shaft MUST be
painted white, with car number on it. Safety loop 1/4" thick, 1
1/2" wide, approximately 6" behind front u-joint is mandatory.
Uni-body cars can only connect stock front stub to stock rear stub NO
alterations to front or rear stub). All cars must have front and rear tow
hooks, strong enough to support vehicle and easily accessible to track
officials and wrecker crews.
SUSPENSION: NO
traction devices, torque arms or lift bars of any kind allowed. One stock
type shock only per wheel in stock location. One spring (may use racing
springs but no coil over) only per wheel, in stock location. NO weight
jacks or weight jacking devices of any kind permitted. Only OEM sway bars
may be used and mounted in stock location. NO aftermarket tubular
"A" arms allowed.
WEIGHT: Minimum
weight limit of 3,100 pounds, after race with driver in car. No
tolerance. No weights and/or loose objects in driver compartment or
outside body and must not be visible. Weights must be securely mounted
to frame or roll cage and painted white with car number on it. Must be
attached with at least two .5-inch bolts. No titanium, magnesium or
carbon fiber products. No gun-drilled, tubular, hollow bolts or studs.
Steel fasteners only.
ENGINE: Tip of #1 spark plug must be even or in front of ball joint.
Cast iron OR aluminum intake manifolds (dual plane only) allowed. Cast
iron blocks and heads only. NO aluminum blocks or heads allowed. Radiator
and engine coolers must be mounted under the hood only. Engine must match
body and frame (i.e. NO Chevy motor in Ford, etc.) All cars are required
to have mufflers, and must meet 100 d.b.a. @ 100' according to track
meter. There is no tolerance due to Springfield city codes. All cars must
have the capability of starting without being pushed or pulled. Stock type
ignition systems only, NO magnetos. Aftermarket distributors of stock
configuration allowed.
TRANSMISSION, CLUTCH, BELL HOUSING: Any OEM type 3 or 4 speed, manual or
automatic transmission is allowed. NO Bret, Brinn or aftermarket
transmissions allowed. NO direct drives allowed. Automatic transmission
must have gate valve. Steel bell housing MANDATORY. If a steel bell
housing is not available for your engine, you MUST construct a shield of
at least 1/2" thick, 6" wide steel, covering the clutch area180
degrees and it must be securely fastened. Transmissions must have at least
one forward, one reverse, and one neutral gear and be able to be shifted
by the driver.
CARBURETION/FUEL SYSTEM: Racing fuel cell MANDATORY. Maximum capacity
of 32 gallons. Fuel cells must be in a steel container, mounted behind the
rear axle and must be protected by roll cage tubing. Fuel cell must be
securely mounted using 2 steel straps, 1/8" thick and 2" wide.
No part of the fuel cell should be lower than protective tubing. No
electric or belt driven fuel pumps allowed, mechanical pump only. NO
nitrous oxide allowed. Any 2 or 4-barrel carburetor
may be used. Pump gasoline or racing fuel may be used. NO alcohol.
WHEELS/TIRES: Any
8" or 10" racing wheel allowed. Bead locks are allowed on right
side only (recommended). IMCA American Racer or Hoosier Asphalt take-offs
(10.0/27.00-15 F series or 1053, 1060). Numbers must be visible for
inspection. Grooving of tires is allowed. Larger lug studs may be used.
One-inch lug nuts are mandatory.
ROLL CAGE: Must
consist of continuous hoops not less than 1 1/2" outside diameter and
wall thickness of .095". Roll cage must be securely supported, braced
and welded to frame in at least 4 places. Cage must have a minimum of 4
bars in driver's door and a minimum of 3 bars is passenger side door of
same pipe dimension of main cage. Driver's head must not protrude above
cage with helmet on and in the driver's seat. Roll cage must be
cross-braced. Front and rear hoops are allowed (recommended). NO soldering
or brazing allowed MUST BE WELDED. A 1/4"to 1/2" screen or bars
(3 bar min.) are required in front of driver cockpit (both are
recommended).
SAFETY EQUIPMENT: Full driver racing suit required any time you are on the track (1
or 2 piece). Snell 90 approved helmet, no motorcycle helmets. Fire
extinguisher or fire system must be in all cars. Neck brace/restraints,
fire resistant gloves and shoes. Arm restraints and/or window net.
Driver's seat must be aluminum, minimum thickness of .090" and
securely mounted with at least 4 grade-5, 3/8" bolts using fenders
washers and lock nuts. A "kill" switch is mandatory and must be
located within easy reach of the driver and must able to be reached when
standing outside vehicle. Switch must be clearly marked ON/OFF. Batteries
CAN NOT be mounted in driver's compartment. Batteries must be mounted
securely and shielded. 5 point racing seat belt system required. Must be
mounted securely.
STEERING/BRAKES: In
cockpit steering may be modified to driver's liking but must remain within
original bolt pattern of frame used. No rack and pinion steering allowed.
Steering quickners are allowed. All cars must have working brakes on all 4
wheels. Only one brake master cylinder allowed. No after market racing
calipers of rotors permitted. Brake bias or master cylinder
adjusters are allowed.
REAR ENDS: Posi-track and locked rear ends allowed. Ford 9" may be used
in all makes of cars, but must use stock mounts in stock location. Rear
disc brakes allowed. No "quick change" or aluminum rear ends or
parts. Floaters are allowed.
